Professional Bio

Judy Bruce has had a fortunate life, she grew up in a large happy family in Jamaica and was home schooled along with her four siblings until they were old enough to attend boarding school in the capital, Kingston.

After completing school, she attended the University of Louisville, Kentucky where
she graduated with a BA. During college she fell in love with pottery and had the
privilege of studying the art form under the late master potter Tom Marsh, who spent ten years in Japan honing his craft before returning to the US where he established pottery programmes at UofL..

Tom exposed her to the impact of passionate leadership on others as his love for his art was infectious, captivating us all in mastering the art of pottery. While in Louisville, she had a once in a lifetime opportunity to attend the world famous Kentucky Derby as a guest in a box and watched Secretariat win the first leg of the triple crown. While not a horse race lover, the experience was one that she will always remember and be grateful for having the good fortune to have been invited to attend.

Returning to her beloved Jamaica after graduation, Judy taught for two years. The experience was fulfilling and even today, past students express their gratitude for her influence, proving the impact leaders and teachers have on their followers and students.

In 1980 she moved to Florida with her family and lived an enjoyable life there for ten years before returning to Jamaica in 1991. Living overseas gives one a different perspective on ones birth country and an appreciation for aspects of Jamaica that only because obvious, when one has the perspective of living elsewhere.

Her twenty eight years in various roles at a conglomerate has exposed her to the value of exceptional leadership as she has seen company executives and managers come and go, and observed the positive impact the good ones have on the culture of the organization, and the negative impact created by uninspiring leaders.

Judy decided to pursue a degree in HRM after functioning as the de facto HR Manager for the company she worked with. It is in this role that Judy grew to understand the complexity of the individual, and the importance of motivating, inspiring and coaching persons to their own greatness.

Attending iPec has provided Judy with the tools to bring the best out of those she interacts with.

Judy is a practicing potter, a wife, a mother and a grandmother. She loves each of the roles and knows that they are all aspects of who she is, and are aspects that allow her to lead a fulfilling life.
